Step into the tried and true craft of printmaking, where art meets a bit of magic. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll bring botanical designs to life, creating one-of-a-kind, customizable prints that are ready to decorate walls.
what you'll create:
Before digital printers existed, artists used relief printing to reproduce images by carving designs into surfaces like linoleum or wood, inking them, and pressing the inked blocks onto paper or other materials. Think of it as the original “copy and paste,” but way more satisfying.
In this workshop, you’ll design and carve your own linoleum blocks, inspired by flowers, natural forms, or whatever else comes to mind. Then, using hand-rolled ink and traditional transfer techniques, you’ll produce crisp, clean, expressive prints that reflect your personal style.
By the end, you’ll leave not only with finished artwork, but with the actual tools and know-how to keep printing at home.
what you will learn:
Safe + effective techniques for carving linoleum blocks
Art of inking: mixing, rolling, + application for best results
How to transfer your design cleanly from block to paper
Techniques for making multiple prints from a single carving
How to troubleshoot, or embrace, common hiccups (smudges, uneven ink, + more)
what is included:
All materials needed to carve + print
2 finished, sized prints to take home
Complete printmaking toolkit for future projects
Instruction from an experienced, certified art educator
Frame-worthy artwork + skills you can build on
